It has been a long time since i really hang out with my parents.

I can't seem to find a picture of the whole family in recent times.

So these days without my brother around, they will spend more time talking to me about their work, their history,their opinions and plans for future.

So my dad told me last time, when he was very young, the family was really poor. But he wanted to eat that plate of chicken rice badly and he told my grandma about his cravings.

My grandma granted his wish by just  buying the chicken rice without the chicken for 40 cents.

On hot afternoons when the ice cream man cycle by, he will dig out 10 cent from somewhere, run to the man and buy the ice-cream, cut it into 2 pieces and share with his big brother.

This explains why he will buy ice cream for us everyday when we were young.

And why he loves ice cream now too.

He makes sure we get the best of what he doesn't get in his child hood.

My mum shared with me last time that she always eat stale food last time.

1 big pot of porridge can last her and her siblings for 1 week.

Now she makes sure that we have warm fresh food every day.

She doesn't allow us to eat overnight food.

She strive to cook fresh food for us and prepare nice , delicious food.

So if deprivation can lead to higher standard of living for the next generation, what will be our next generation 's standard of living be like?
